So YOU wanna be a cheese maker???
This is a chance of a life time!
We have a few weeks in September and a few weeks in October book now!
Come stay on the farm for 1 week or more and learn all you can about cheese making with Kim! In an average week you will spend three days out of seven morning to night being a cheese maker! Working side by side milking our goats, processing the milk and turning it into cheese! We will cover Chevre, Feta, Bloomy rinds and cheddar, at least and maybe more! See if you have what it takes to lead this life and experience the wonder of making your own cheese. Other items we may cover -soap making, cajecta and marketing.
You can expect to check in any time after 12 noon and start your first day with 5:30 am milking from there we go right into the cheese kitchen and work steadily until noon. We then enjoy a farm lunch and a few hours of a quiet break before evening milking at 3:30, dinner and more cheese making! During your afternoon break you could visit with the animals, hike our property and visit our massive beaver complex, visit the near by ocean or charming coastal towns. Four out of your six dinners are shared with the family, three of your lunches and additional food is available for purchase on the farm. Coffee/tea and muffins are available all mornings. You will have one full day to yourself to explore this wonderful Down East area!

Day with the Farmer-
YOU could learn this:
Day with the farmer is intended to give you a taste of farm life. We begin our day @ 8 or 6 if you want to participate in Morning Milking. You will spend the day with one of the Family as we split your day between goats, cheese, kitchen and field! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks will be provided and prep time will be part of the day as well. All meals will have a strong farm and local food focus. Bring your notebook and get an idea of what it takes to run a small family diversified farm. Both parties will schedule a day that works. [email protected]
Taste of Farming!
If one day might not be enough we also offer a three day intensive "Day with Farmer" based on the above format. On site camping is available or area motel, B&B's are close by. This opportunity would be ideal for a person or two who are considering a farmstead business in their future. This is limited to one person or a couple and we offer 4 per year-1 spring, 2 summer and 1 fall. Please contact me early to plan ahead and discuss your area of focus.
